Well, I’ve realized that my house needs help. So I’ve gone and joined up at FlyLady. Today’s my first day, so all I have to do is get dressed to the shoes, make my bed, and shine my sink. The bed’s done, I’m dressed *except* for shoes, and I’m just waiting to shine the sink until I’ve had a chance to go to the grocery and get bleach.Yes, except the shoes. I can already see that there are things I’m not going to follow FlyLady’s guidelines on exactly. I do see her reasoning behind wanting people to put on lace-up shoes even when they’re at home. And she does have a point. But no, I don’t wear shoes in my home. It’s not because I’m afraid of tracking stuff in–I just don’t like shoes. I won’t wear them in my own home and I usually don’t wear them outdoors at home either, unless I’m mowing the lawn or something. Sorry! If I find I need help getting into work mode, I’ll put them on when I’m cleaning, but I’m not going to wear them while just sitting around the house.
Other than that, though, I’m pleased with how things are going so far. I feel like this might be something that really could help me, particularly since it’s not an all-or-nothing full-on “get things clean NOW!” I think building up in baby steps is really going to help–it’s not so overwhelming, and it will help me to establish habits that will serve to keep this sort of thing from happening again.
