At any rate, I’m making a half-reply here, if the person is reading, but let this serve as further notice: No. I do not reply to e-mail on my site. It is not a message board. Sorry. Well, the cats are settling in just fine. Last night they both seemed a little skittish. Calli had disappeared at some point before I got home, but since there was no way she could have gotten outside, we figured we would just let her come out in her own time. If she hadn’t come out by bedtime we really would have gotten worried, but sure enough, she showed up a little bit after we stopped looking for her. Libby was more adventurous, but still did quite a bit of hiding under the computer table inbetween petting sessions.This morning, Calli had disappeared again, but you never would have known that Libby had just spent her first night in a new house with people she didn’t know. She gave me good morning nuzzles, followed me around as I went about my early-morning routine, and generally tried to get between me and my breakfast (or between me and the keyboard, whichever was applicable at the time).

All in all, I think they’re settling in all right. Calli will feel more comfortable the more she’s there, and Libby seems to be comfy already. I’m so happpppyyyy.

Tim has just called me to say that the cats are currently exploring our house. They appear quite happy to be out of the stuffy shelter cage and into a place they can roam around a bit. Now, we just have to take them to a vet before Sunday for a checkup and get to know you session.

Well, today we did two very important things. One was to buy a stove. Yay rah, a new appliance. (No, I’m happy, really.)The other was that we went down to the shelter and picked out cats to adopt! We have filled out the application for adoption and will know Monday afternoon if we have been approved. We are (hopefully) getting two cats. One is a 6-year-old named Calli (“Greek for Beauty”, her profile says), a tabby with dark brown and black markings (they say she’s part Abyssinian too). The other is a 4-year-old calico named Libby. Both are females and have been spayed. Calli and Libby were brought in together, and we just made the shelter’s day by expressing an interest in them. They both have certain health concerns, but overall they will be good companions for us, and we are glad to be able to take them both in rather than splitting them up.
